What is an ultrasound?
An ultrasound scan uses a hand-held probe that emits high-frequency sound waves to produce an image of your body’s organs, tissues, vessels, and structures on a connected screen. Computers interpret the reflection of the sound waves, or echoes, emitted by the transducer on internal structures to produce images
What are ultrasounds used for?
Ultrasounds are used to detect abnormalities and diagnose various diseases. Since ultrasound waves do not emit any radiation, they are ideal for pregnant individuals or anyone prescribed with limiting radiation exposure.
Doctors use diagnostic ultrasounds to collect information regarding bone sonometry, determining bone fragility, cancerous tissues, blow flow, organ blockages, inflammation, infection, and menstrual issues
Our Cyprus ultrasound scanning services are your key to high-quality, timely and radiation-free clarity
If you’re experiencing pain, discomfort, or inflammation in your body, an ultrasound can offer the answers you need to seek treatment—zero risk attached

Scanxiety is real. We’ve found that knowing exactly what to expect can help ease scan-related stress
-
Check-In
01On the day of your scan, you will start by checking in at the reception
-
Comfortable extremity and procedure organization
02A radiologist will be assigned to you. They will accompany you into an examination room, where you will lie down in a comfortable bed. The doctor will then ask you to lift your clothing, depending on the area being scanned, and will apply a special gel that prevents air pockets from blocking the sound waves
-
Scan procedure
03During the scan, the radiologist will gently glide a hand-held probe over the target area. Depending on the area, the process takes about 10-25 minutes
