What is a full body MRI scan?
An MRI scan, or magnetic resonance imaging, is a non-invasive technology that produces detailed images of various body parts using powerful magnets, radio waves, and contrast agents. Radiologists use MRIs to locate and diagnose soft tissue diseases, pinpoint the source of pain and inflammation, and identify abnormal tissue or tumour growth.
While typical MRI scans focus on only one part of the body, an MRI scan for full body screens for hundreds of markers and abnormalities throughout the body. For this reason, it’s a much more practical and effective choice for preventative screening that helps you keep track of your overall health

-
Comfortable extremity MRI suite
02From there, an MRI technologist will be assigned to you. They will accompany you into an examination room, where you will be provided specific instructions on positioning yourself inside the machine

-
Scan procedure
04During the scan, you’ll have to stay as still as possible. The process takes 60 minutes

Is a full body MRI right for me?
If you are already experiencing a specific symptom, we recommend considering a focused MRI evaluation (link to MRI page). A preventative Full-Body MRI scan is not meant to replace age-appropriate cancer screening guidelines, such as a colonoscopy and mammogram

Full body MRIs offer the most comprehensive view of your whole-body health, which is why they are an increasingly popular preventative health practice

FAQ
-
How soon can I get a full body MRI scan in Cyprus?
Since full body MRIs are only offered privately, you can get scanned within one week of booking. Book online or contact us to secure your appointment today
-
How often should I get a full body MRI?
We recommend scheduling one scan each year to monitor your health and take preventative action on any issues before they become full-blown problems
-
How do I obtain my full body MRI scan results?
After a radiologist reviews your images, a medical specialist will contact you to discuss your results and recommend a preventative care plan. Your results (report and images) will then be stored in our patient portal, where you can review them at your convenience
-
How long does it take to receive my scan results?
On average, our centres provide all MRI scan results within five business days of your examination
-
What does it mean if there are no findings on my MRI scan?
While a full body scan is one of the most effective ways to check for early signs of disease, cancer, or abnormalities, it isn’t perfect. Cancer that is in its very early stages may need time to grow in size before its detectable on a scan, which is why we recommend annual full body scans
-
Are full body scans covered by insurance?
While considered a great preventative scan, full body MRIs are currently not covered by most health insurances. Contact your insurance broker to find out if your insurance plan can cover your scan
-
Do I need to have symptoms to book a full body MRI?
No. You can self-refer for a full body scan as a general screening
-
How do I prepare for my full body MRI scan?
Full body MRI scans require no preparation. Remember, an MRI machine is basically a huge magnet, so try to wear comfortable clothes that don’t have any metal detailing to avoid having to change into a medical robe. Any metal objects, such as jewellery, belts, and dentures, will have to be removed before the procedure
-
What is the age requirement for a full body scan?
Full body MRI scans are best suited for individuals aged 18 and over
-
What’s included in the booking price?
Your MRI scan booking fee includes an optional pre-scan consultation with a medical professional, a written diagnosis of your images from a radiologist, digital and physical copies of your scans, a post-scan consultation with a medical professional to go over your results, and access to an online patient portal where you can view all your reports and images at any time
-
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer cancellations and refunds as long as they are requested within the outlined timeframe before the booking date. In some cases, a cancellation fee may be applied. Read our Terms and Conditions for more information
